This year’s Best Picture nominees at the Oscars are a mixed bag. While films such as Dune: Part Two and Wicked have emerged as blockbusters, the 10-movie pool also includes mid-budget hits, indie darlings, and streaming titles.
Wicked has grossed more in North America, $472 million, than all the other nominees put together. While Emilia Pérez did not get a domestic release, it collected $15 million worldwide. The Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown, starring Timothée Chalamet performed well on the global scale, collecting over #110 million. Chalamet is also part of the second-highest-grossing film on the l, Dune: Part Two, which collected over $700 million worldwide. The Brutal, which snagged 10 nominations overall, had a very limited theatrical run but expanded into more theatres later.
