‘Out and about’: KL Rahul shares photographs with crutches following recent thigh surgery
KL Rahul shared photographs of himself walking around on crutches just days after undergoing a surgery for an injury on his right thigh which he sustained in an IPL 2023 game recently. The Lucknow Super Giants captain was injured while fielding against the Royal Challengers Bangalore two weeks back.
Rahul had announced his decision to undergo surgery to fix the issue. The decision ensured he would miss the rest of the IPL season and the upcoming ICC World Test Championship final against Australia from June 7 at The Oval in London.
While announcing his move to undergo surgery, Rahul had spoken of how difficult the decision was.
“Absolutely gutted that I won’t be at the Oval next month with Team India. I’ll do everything I can to get back in the blue and help my country. That has always been my focus and priority. After careful consideration and consultation with the medical team, it’s been concluded that I’ll be undergoing surgery on my thigh shortly. My focus will be on my rehabilitation and recovery in the coming weeks. It’s a tough call to make, but I know it’s the right one to ensure a full recovery,” the 31-year-old had posted on his social media.
In a statement, BCCI had said: “Rahul will undergo surgery at the earliest followed rehab at the National Cricket Academy.”
The board had also named Ishan Kishan as a replacement for Rahul for the WTC final while Ruturaj Gaikwad, Suryakumar Yadav and Mukesh Kumar have been added as reserves.
The cricketer had recently shared an update on his surgery. “Hi everyone, I just got done with my surgery – it was successful. A big thank you to the doctors and medical staff for making sure I was comfortable and everything went smoothly. I’m officially on the road to recovery now. I’m determined to get back to my best and get back on the field. Onwards and upwards!” Rahul had posted on social media on Wednesday.
