‘Pakan players deserve this’: After early exit, Mohammad Rizwan says team should accept country’s anger | Cricket News

In the recently concluded T20 World Cup in the United States and the West Indies one-time champion Pakan has been eliminated from the group stage. The performance of Babar Azam’s men was underwhelming. In their opening fixture they could not hold their nerve and lost to the USA in Super Over and later chasing 120 against India they crumbled under pressure falling six runs short.
The team has received a lot of slack from the former Pakan players. Keeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan said the criticism towards the team is reasonable. “The criticism the team is facing is justified and we deserve this since we didn’t perform in accordance with expectations. Players who can’t face criticism won’t be able to succeed,” he said speaking to the media.
After losing the first two games Pakan had to win their reminder of two games against Canada and Ireland with other results going their way to qualify for Super 8. The Men in Green did manage to deliver their end of the bargain but the results elsewhere in the group did not go their way and the USA qualified from the group alongside India.
“We are disappointed with our performance in the T20 World Cup. There are multiple reasons behind our losses. When a team loses, one can’t say that bowling and batting is doing well. Operations are a normal thing. When a person is ill, an operation is necessary. PCB Chairman is a hard-working person. The decision about who will remain in the team and who will not is the chairman’s right,” Rizwan added.
All-rounder Imad Wasim who was part of the team too has been vocal about the shortcomings of the team. “The problem is our team is so good, our players are so good, that we are good enough to play any kind of cricket. We haven’t tried that but the thing is you have to try that, you have to get rid of the fear of failure. In everything – batting, bowling, fielding, you have to get rid of fear of failure,” he would observe during the World Cup.
