US President Donald Trump’s adminration made the website for ‘Trump Gold Card’ live on Wednesday which opens the application for a ‘gold card’ that is an expedited visa which the federal government provides to people who pay at least $1 million. President Trump called the ‘gold card’ “somewhat like a green card, but with big advantages”.
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, during the launch of the website in the White House’s Roosevelt Room, said the ‘gold card’ visa programme would include a fee of $15,000 for applicant vetting and a thorough process would be followed to scrutinise the background of the applicants in order to “make sure these people absolutely qualify to be in America.”
01What is Gold Card visa programmeThe ‘gold card’ visa programme offers legal status to the card holders and acts as an eventual pathway to obtain US citizenship for individuals paying $1 million and corporations paying $2 million. The ‘gold card’ visa programme is meant to replace the EB-5 visa programme. The EB-5 programme was introduced in 1990 to “stimulate the US economy through job creation and capital investment foreign investors”, as per the White House.

After the applicants get vetted and approved the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), they will have to pay $1 million to “receive US residency in record time”.
