Performing better than Kesari 2

Jaat box office collection day 15: Sunny Deol-starrer Jaat, which has been running in theatres for over two weeks now, has still not managed to cross the Rs 100 crore mark at the box office. The worldwide collection of the film currently stands at Rs 107 crore gross.
On its 15th day, the film’s shows saw an occupancy of around 8 percent. The film has the maximum number of shows in the Delhi-NCR region, with an occupancy of around 8 percent. In Mumbai, the film had only around 261 shows, with almost 9 percent occupancy.
Jaat is witnessing some competition from Akshay Kumar-starrer Kesari Chapter 2. On its seventh day in the cinemas, Kesari Chapter 2 made approximately Rs 3.5 crore, taking its nett domestic total to Rs 46.1 crore. Jaat, after seven days in the cinemas, had clocked in Rs 57.5 crore.

Jaat is Sunny’s first released since the 2023 film Gadar 2, which made over Rs 500 crore at the box office. Gadar 2 was Sunny’s first hit in over 20 years, since the original 2001 film Gadar. With Jaat, Sunny’s intention was to expand his fan base to the southern states as well, which is why he collaborated with the Telugu filmmaker Gopichand Malineni and the production house, Mythri Movie Makers.
After Jaat, Sunny will next be seen in Border 2. Directed Anurag Singh, the film also stars Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, among others. He will also collaborate with Rajkumar Santoshi for Lahore 1947, also starring Preity Zinta. The film is being produced Aamir Khan. He shared with Pinkvilla, “We had been working on Lahore for many years, and many different actors heard the story and were considered for the film, but it couldn’t be done. But then again, Gadar 2 has made it happen. I was surprised when Aamir approached me and said, ‘Sunny, we want to make this film,’ because I never thought of an actor producing the film.”
He added, “I started shooting for Lahore 1947 before Jaat, but the reason that it is taking more time is because Aamir is the producer and he wants to take his time and see everything, and he wants everything to be perfect.”
