PKL: Pawan Sehrawat, Ashish Narwal drag Telugu Titans to win over Patna Pirates; Haryana Steelers beat Dabang Delhi | Sport-others News
Pawan Sehrawat combined with raider Ashish Narwal to take Telugu Titans to only their second victory in the Pro Kabaddi League season 11 on Monday, as they overcame a stiff challenge from the Patna Pirates on Monday, at the GMCB Indoor Stadium, in Hyderabad’s Gachibowli.
The final scoreline of 28-26 reflected how narrow the gap between the two PKL teams was on the night.
It was the combined efforts of captain Pawan Sehrawat (who scored five points) and Ashish Narwal (nine points) that helped the Titans get past the finish line ahead of their rivals despite a cautious start to the PKL clash.
Meanwhile, in the other match of the day in the PKL, Mohammadreza Shadloui scored 10 points while Shivam Patare adding eight more as Haryana Steelers brushed aside the Dabang Delhi KC side despite Ashu Malik putting in a shift and scoring 13 points on the night.
The Telugu Titans vs Patna Pirates PKL clash was poised on a knife’s edge from the start. The Patna Pirates briefly held a two-point lead in the initial minutes, but at the mid-way stage of the first half, the scoreline read 6-5 in favour of the Patna Pirates.
The three-time champions Patna though kept a three-point dance between themselves and their rivals on the night at the half-way stage.
The second half was when Pawan Sehrawat helped the Telugu Titans mount a stunning turnaround. In a matter of minutes in the second half, the Titans were able to bring down the deficit to one-point before Vijay Malik brought parity to the PKL clash at 14-14 with, coincidentally, 14 minutes left in the game.
It was then that the Titan’s star of the night, Ashish Narwal, forced an all out on Patna, thus handing his side a lead.
But with five minutes to go before the PKL match was to end, Patna once again roared back into the match, reducing the scoreline gap to one point. That was when Ashish Narwal scored a super raid, which eventually turned out ot be difference.
