PM Modi inaugurates UP Investors Summit in Lucknow, announces construction of industrial corridor

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the two-day Uttar Pradesh Investors’ Summit in Lucknow today. The Investors’ Summit is meant to showcase investment opportunities in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

President Ram Nath Kovind will be present at the closing ceremony on February 22, an official statement said.

The summit, organised by the Yogi Adityanath government, is being attended by 5000 people including industry leaders, union ministers, chief ministers of states, policy makers and investors.

Finland, the Netherlands, Japan, Czech Republic, Thailand, Slovakia and Mauritius have been identified as country partners for the event. Several MoUs are also expected to be signed during the summit.

Speaking at the event, PM Narendra Modi said that the government will establish a defence industrial production corridor in UP. The corridor, which will link Agra, Aligarh, Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi and Chitrakoot, will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 20,000 crore. The construction of this corridor will generate 250,000 jobs.

“I am making an important announcement. In this year’s budget, we had announced that we will establish two defence industrial production corridors. One of them will be in Uttar Pradesh,” news agency IANS quoted PM Narendra Modi as saying.

PM Narendra Modi also praised the Yogi government for reducing red tapism and also rolling out red carpet for investors.

“There is no dearth of resources and opportunities in Uttar Pradesh where you find Lucknowi chikankari’, Banarsi zardosi’, brassware of Moradabad and glassware industries of Firozabad,” Modi said.

PM Modi had also inuagurated Global Investors Summit in Guwahati and Magnetic Maharashtra event earlier this month.
