Preity Zinta slams morphed images with teen cricketer Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, calls it ‘fake news’ | Bollywood News

Bollywood actor and Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta has raised objections to digitally altered images showing her with 14-year-old Rajasthan Royals cricketer Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The images, which went viral on social media, falsely suggest a hug between the two at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium. The controversy stems from a video posted the Rajasthan Royals on Monday, showing Preity meeting Vaibhav before a match. The brief clip, shared on X (formerly Twitter), captures the two exchanging a few words and shaking hands. The post captioned, “Flex levels at school: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi,” is set to the song “Koi Mil Gaya”, a nod to Preity’s iconic film.

However, images circulating separately on social media appeared to show Preity embracing the young cricketer, an interaction that does not appear in the original footage. These images sparked widespread discussion online and in regional media outlets. Reacting to the altered visuals, Preity reposted a news report featuring one such image and wrote, “This is a morphed image and fake news.” In another post, referencing a local report, she added, “Fake news with morphed image. Am so surprised now news channels are also using morphed images and featuring them as news items.”

The incident occurred during the IPL match between Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings, in which the latter secured a 10-run victory after defending a total of 219. Preity Zinta, meanwhile, is preparing for her return to films after a seven-year break. Her last appearance was in Bhaiaji Superhit (2018). She will next be seen in Lahore 1947, directed Rajkumar Santoshi and produced Aamir Khan, with Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, and Ali Fazal also featuring in key roles.
