Punjabi actor Jaswinder Bhalla, known for Carry On Jatta, Jatt and Juliet, passes away at 65

Punjabi comedian Jaswinder Bhalla Death: Jaswinder Bhalla, known for playing Advocate Dhillon in Punjabi film franchise Carry On Jatta, passed away in the early hours of Friday in Mohali. He was 65.
His funeral will take place on Saturday near Mohali. It has been reported that Jawinder had been ill for some time and was admitted to a hospital.
Jaswinder had been a popular actor on Punjabi television and was a central figure in the Punjabi comedy scene since the 1990s. In the last few years, he had gained a lot of fame for playing Advocate Dhillon in the Carry On Jatta series. He had also appeared in the Jatt and Juliet films, Shinda Shinda No Papa, among many others. He was also known for playing Chacha Chatra in the Chhankata series which gained a lot of popularity in Punjab via home video cassettes.

Apart from the Chhankata series, Jaswinder gained a lot of fame after he appeared in Jaspal Bhatti’s film Mahaul Theek Hai. He was also seen in the Jija Ji, also directed Bhatti. Both these films saw him performing with the best comic actors in Punjab. Despite gaining a lot of popularity in the region, Jaswinder did not transition to Hindi films.
His ability to present social problems with a witty way made him quite popular in the Punjabi entertainment industry. In fact, he was one of the key figures in the resurgence of the Punjabi entertainment industry in the early 2000s. As comedy was one of the most popular genres of the time, Jaswinder gained a significant place here. Since this was also the era when a lot of comic actors were improvising, as per their own admission, Jaswinder got a chance to display his natural comic style. In an earlier chat with ABP Sanjha, he also spoke about the same as he discussed how often they would end up writing their own dialogues in films and comic shows.
