R Ashwin Ricky Bhui’s dismissal: Will get away with this technique 10/10 times in FC cricket…Now, keeping your bat behind the pad can be fatal | Cricket News

On Friday, India D batter Ricky Bhui who was batting with solid temperament was trapped in front of the wicket India C bowler Manav Suthar. However, initially, the on-field umpire did not give it out but India C skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad opted for review and the decision was overturned to out.
Indian cricketer R Ashwin has lauded the introduction of DRS in domestic cricket and nitpicked Bhui’s technique of playing spin. “Ricky Bhuvi’s (Bhui’s) dismissal last evening against Manav Suthar is a classic case of a batter who will get away with this technique 10/10 times in FC cricket,” wrote the off-spinner on his X account.
“This was not a faulty technique pre-DRS but now it is. Back in the day batters were given not out just because they managed to get on the front foot. Now, keeping your bat behind the pad can be fatal, imagine someone making the climb to international cricket without getting this experience Ricky got yesterday. He could very well take an entire test series to understand what he needs to work on and his career could well be over,” Ashwin further wrote.
Purple in Ranji season
“Every batsman will have that one breakthrough season where he hits a purple patch. I feel it is just around the corner, especially with the way my game has been headed in the last couple of seasons. You need a season where you have to flourish and for that I need to keep improving,” Bhui told The Indian Express during his productive 2023/24 Ranji Trophy season where he was the top run scorer. He scored 902 runs at an average of 75.16 including four hundreds and three half-centuries.
The 27-year-old has played for India U-19 side 2013/14 and also 15/16 and was a regular face in India A sides in the past. “There have been a lot of ups and downs right from my Under-19 years. I’ve not got enough opportunities even in the IPL, and I have managed to have runs behind me in domestic cricket across formats.
