R Ashwin shares his thoughts on Sanju Samson’s inclusion in India’s 50-over World Cup side
Rajasthan Royals off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin revealed his opinion about whether the franchise captain Sanju Samson should get a chance in India’s 50-over World Cup for the upcoming ICC 50-over Cricket World Cup in October.
Ashwin said on his Youtube channel, “We received many comments. Anyway, Wasim Jaffer has mentioned that we are backing many players, and in the same way, we should start trying Sanju Samson, also. Even the fans are asking for his comeback. You are asking to back everyone. Why don’t we back Sanju Samson enough?” Ashwin said.
“I am not here to tell who should be backed or anything. I want India to win the World Cup. We should give all the positive vibes for that to happen. That is my thought process,” said the India off-spinner,” He added.
Surya has not scored a single run in the recently concluded three-match ODI series against Australia in home conditions. The batter struggled to put the bat on the ball in all his outings.
In the third ODI in Chennai, Surya, who batted at number four in the first two ODIs, was demoted to number seven. However, the change in batting position did not change the luck of the batter as he completed a hattrick of ducks in the series.
Many fans and experts thought Sanju Samson should have been given a run in the side. Surya scored 433 runs in ODI at an average of 24.05. On the other hand, Samson scored 330 runs from 11 games at an average of 66. Samson has done well for India in ODI cricket in his limited opportunities.
