Ramiz Raja loses his cool, defends Babar Azam, slams PCB for destroying Pakan cricket | Cricket-world-cup News

Former Pakan captain Ramiz Raja has defended under pressure Babar Azam and had slammed Pakan Cricket Board (PCB) destroying Pakan cricket. Pakan has failed to qualify for the World Cup as they finished fifth on the points table and a lot of fingers has been raised on skipper Babar Azam for his poor captaincy.
“Jab naye ball se wickets nahi lenge, aap expensive hote jayenge toh Babar Azam kya khaak kapataani karega (When bowlers will not take wickets with the new ball and start getting expensive, how would Babar do captaincy then?,” Ramiz said on his YouTube channel.

“And then they (PCb) would gather some ex-cricketers and ask them how to fix cricket? Who put them in charge (of the board)? Is their job just to huddle together and change the captain and the coaching staff and everyone would think they have taken a major step?,” asked Raza.
The former PCB chief also slammed current chief Zaka Ashraf and the newly-appointed interim chief selector Tauseef Ahmed.
“Not even an inch of Pakan’s cricket can get better if you don’t have passion for the game. You need to change yourself and your mindset. You need to shut this process of leaking news to your favourite reporters,” he added.

“The new chief selector that you’ve appointed, look at his old clips and how badly he has talked about Babar and Rizwan, you want your cricket to progress appointing a 70-year-old who knows nothing about selection?”
Raza has also claimed that the Pakan cricket has collapsed and it can been seen in the local clubs.
“Pakan cricket has collapsed. You can’t bat, bowl or field with spikes in club matches. On weekends, the grounds where clubs practice are given to the companies to organise tennis-ball cricket because it gives them [the clubs] money.”
“This entire system needs to change and the board should change itself first,” he concluded.

Following Pakan’s ouster from the tournament after they lost to England 93 runs in their last league match, Raja was asked on Star Sports whether he saw Babar Azam continuing as captain.
“I spoke briefly with him (the day before England match). He was down and will make up his mind (about whether he wants to remain captain) once he lands in Pakan. I don’t know whether he wants to lead Pakan. Only time will tell.

“But for Pakan, more than Babar leading them, it’s how this team wants to be led. What about the system? How do they want to approach white ball cricket? What are the faultlines? They are so irrelevant at times. Even the batting performance of today (versus England) was a specimen of the kid of cricket seen in 80s.
“Pakan cannot ex thinking they can beat good sides that are advanced in thinking, advanced in playing aggressive cricket playing this nature of cricket. This team, more than anything, needs a mental lift at the moment because most if the nucleus of the team will remain the same.
“The pressure of critics, former players and media got to the team midway through the campaign. Criticism can be a massive put off for the Pakan team, especially because things can be cold and ruthless.”
Raja has also blamed the Pakan’s bowling attack, specially their spin department, for the team’s poor show in the tournament.
“The worst thing that happened to Pakan at the World Cup was their lack of bowling performance. The spin department looked absolutely bare compared to others.
“Pakan’s ability to play spin was also questioned. Coming from the subcontinent and playing so insipidly against spin… I never expected Pakan to be so fast against spinners.”Most Read

Raja was asked if he had one positive takeaway from the World Cup.
“Not really. Mohammad Wasim in bits and pieces. Pakan seems to have found a good No 3 seamer.”
He went on to add: “Pakan need to forget about bowling repetions. They had to play Haris and Afridi in every match, but look at how expensive they were. Pakan need to find replacements. Last time I counted, there were 13 or 14 fast bowlers who could bowl over 140kmph in our domestic circuit. There are options available.”
