Ranchi weather update: Will rain help Indian cricket team steal a draw in 4th IND vs ENG Test? | Cricket News

Coming into the fourth Test at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi India were firm favorites to win the series however, a magnificent ton from Joe Root and an inspired bowling performance from young Shoaib Bashir have put the hosts on a deficit of 134 runs after Day 2.
In India, it is not very usual for teams to come from behind. With the pitch crumbling each session, any total England will ask India to chase would be a herculean task. However, a glimmer of hope for India which could save them the blushes is the weather forecast for Sunday (Day 3) and Tuesday (Day 5)
According to the AccuWeather app on Sunday, there will be a shower or two in the afternoon, and on the final day a cloudy day is expected and a couple of showers in the afternoon. There are also showers predicted for Day 4 however, the App suggests those could be only in a few areas of the Ranchi city.
Unless a dramatic batting effort from Dhruv Jurel with the remaining lower-order batters which would take India closer to England’s first-innings total of 353. India would be hoping all the showers predicted would come true and give them a chance to draw the Test.
Despite Yasashvi Jaiswal scoring the fourth half-century in a row in the series the rest of the batting order could not provide him with enough support hence India ended the day at 219/7.
The series currently stands at 2-1 after England beat India in the first Test in Hyderabad 28 runs. Ollie Pope’s 196 helped them to turn the Test match from an impossible situation. India after swallowing a bitter pill in the opening Test made a comeback in the second game in Visakhapatnam beating the visitors 106 runs-A comeback led Jasprit Bumrah’s heroics.
The third Test in Rajkot was the first time where India completely thrashed England. The game seemed on an even keel after Day 2 on the back of Ben Duckett’s ton but Yashasvi Jaiswal had different ideas. India took the lead in the series after beating England a whooping 434 runs at Rajkot.
