Padmavati trailer: Ranveer Singh cries, Deepika Padukone wonders what she did to deserve this

As Padmavati trailer opened to positive reactions on Monday, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh took to social media to thank fans and fraternity for all the love. While Twitter was awash with people appreciating the trailer of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus, many of film industry’s leading lights also had praise for the film. Baahubali director SS Rajamouli, Amitabh Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan and Farhan Akhtar were just a few of those who shared their thoughts.

The most effusive praise came from Rajamouli, who called Padmavati trailer “insanely beautiful !!! Each frame etched to perfection by the master craftsman,” and reserved a special compliment for Ranveer, “@RanveerOfficial looks menacing and frightening yet can’t take my eyes off him..”

Ranveer Singh was so overcome with emotion that he broke down during an Instagram chat with his fans. While watching the trailer with his fans, he started crying and said Bhansali has put blood and tears in Padmavati. He even took a minute to compose himself before he could go on.

Ranveer later posted a thank you note on social media too, “Thank you, from the bottom of my heart to each and every one of you who have been so generous in effusively showering love and appreciation for our trailer. To witness this avalanche of praise across the board is unprecedented and overwhelming. It’s very rare ..and very, very humbling.”

He added, “It is a result of blood, sweat and tears that our team has poured in this mammoth effort. Danjay sir, my crazy genius, the master craftsman… has fought, suffered and sacrificed for this film – the success of this trailer is a testament to his sheer tenacity and iron will. What you’re seeing is the vision of a deeply passionate artist who has bared his infinite soul on celluloid. He is tireless and unrelenting in his pursuit of excellence. I am blessed to have had the privilege of being directed by him–he nurtures me and I learn from him and grow every day.”

Ranveer also apologised for not answering everyone on social media. “I am still shooting the movie (just the last few days left now) so, unfortunately, I’m not able to reply to each one of you kind folks individually, like I usually do. But it’s so very heartening to read everything you all have said.”

Deepika was equally effusive in her thanks. Taking to Twitter, she wrote, “And as this day comes to an end,I cannot even begin to express the gratitude and joy I feel today! (2/2)I sometimes wonder,’what have I done to deserve so much love and appreciation’..and while I seek, all I can say is a big big Thank You!”

Padmavati – in which Deepika plays the “goddess queen”, Shahid Kapoor her husband Maharawal Ratan Singh and Ranveer essays the role of Sultan Alauddin Khilji – releases on December 1. The makers revealed the looks of the three characters earlier to great response.

The film has earlier faced protests from fringe groups which claimed that the film will show Khilji and Padmavati romancing. Both Bhansali and his team have dismissed such speculation.
