2 killed, 10 injured in suspected family vendetta on Greek island of Crete | World News

Two people were killed and at least ten others injured in a shooting in a village on the Greek island of Crete, Reuters reported.

The police said the shooting took place on Saturday in the village of Vorizia. A senior police officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the attack appeared to be linked to a long-running family vendetta.

“The incident looks like it stems from a family dispute,” the officer told Reuters. Authorities have not released details about the suspected gunman.

A second police officer told Reuters that the shooting followed an explosion on Friday night at a construction site, where a bomb had been planted.

Both officers spoke anonymously as they were not authourised to comment publicly. Crete has a long hory of violent feuds between families over issues of revenge and honour.
