India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja pipped KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav to win the award for the best fielder in India’s seven-wicket win against Bangladesh at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium on Thursday.
Jadeja, who was India’s best bowler on a flat Pune track plucked a stunner at the backward point to dismiss Bangladesh’s wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim. Kl Rahul, who has won the award in the last game against Pakan, took an outstanding catch, diving to his left took a brilliant catch to send Mehidy Hasan Miraz back in the hut.
Kuldeep Yadav was also in the fray for his excellent ground fielding. Team India’s fielding coach T Dilip in a video shared the BCCI.Tv, said “we saved 13 runs today.”

The video started with KL Rahul saying he deserves to win it two in a row but Jadeja should get the medal.

“I think I deserve it today, but I think I’ve got it just the last game. So Dilip sir, just to keep it interesting, will give it to somebody else. And according to me, the contenders are Jaddu, obviously for that catch. And Kuldeep is not too far away because he was really good in the field today,” he said.
T Dilip lauded the efforts of Indian fielders in their match against Bangladesh.

“We have played enough, we all know that win isn’t built in runs or wickets. I think it is also built on marvelous catches, tremendous savings and today was a great example of that. Just not the way we save, but also the numbers saved. Two game-changing catches KL and Jadeja. We as a team saved 13 runs today. That was fantastic.
“So let’s roll the carpet for today’s evening star (a huge uproar from the team led Virat Kohli along with the whles and claps).
“On the field today one person was like a lion today. Commanding on the field, outstanding effort with direct hit, savings and outstanding top catch .. Mr Jadeja.

Dilip explains the importance of the medal and why it shows the fighting spirit of this team.

Jadeja was mobbed the teammates. KL Rahul, who won the award in the last match did the honours and passed on the medal to Jadeja, who put it on the neck of India’s fielding coach.
India will take on New Zealand on Sunday at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamsala.
