RCB captain Rajat Patidar faces first bouncer, not from Nortje or Ngidi…but this third Mr N | Ipl News

Mr Nags, the famous RCB comedian, opened Season 18 of the IPL with newly named skipper, and hapless target Rajat Patidar in his crosshairs.
While most of comic Danish Sait’s questions are rhetorical, he did get Patidar to promise that the skipper would not allow the franchise to lose “4-5 matches in a row.”
Mr Nags wondered what Patidar would do should RCB lose a bunch of games, adding, “It’s not hard to believe.” The Bengaluru outfit are notorious for losing home games, flattering to deceive and always coming to the brink of winning, but then not, having gone title-less for 17 years.

Humour is how they have self-deprecated, but haven’t quite made sense of how the downhill gets set into motion year after year. So when asked how he would respond as skipper, Patidar replied, “First of all we will try to not lose 4-5 matches in a row. And secondly, Never ask me this question again,” Patidar gritted his teeth in response to Mr Nags.
RCB captains have bravely opened themselves up to scrutiny the in house jester in RCB Insider, who is very truthful and doesn’t mince words. So it wasn’t surprising that it wasn’t Luigi Ngidi in the RCB nets or Anrich Nortje in the opening match against KKR that fired the first salvos at RCB’s new skipper, but Mr Nags.
Sait opened the PTC to the Insider interview claiming, RCB captains need, “Strong back to carry weight of expectations and strong legs to run away when you lose a match.”
Patidar was stumped responding with, “Kya nonsense baatein kar raha hai?”Story continues below this ad
Other ridiculous gags included Mr Nags asking Patidar how Lok Sabha had helped him become a better leader. ” How has Lok Sabha helped you become better – they said you are captain of MPs. Leader of leaders.”
Patidar had to shoot back: “Not MPs (members of parliament). I’m captain of Madhya Pradesh (in Ranji / real domestic championships).
Mr Nags also guilt tripped Patidar for “dislodging older guy from captaincy” – Faf du Plessis who is now 40, but a serious threat for any team.
To a self-admitted boring question on cricket proper, Patidar said, “We have covered all aspects of game. We are one of best sides now. Bowling is especially far better.” Mr Nags feigned nodding off and snoring to this.Story continues below this ad
Patidar would end the segment quoting a dialogue Karnataka’s greatest actor Dr Rajkumar, in Kannada. Mr Nags was finally impressed.
