Reliance likely to offer 100 GB data at Rs 500 on JioFiber in 100 cities
New Delhi: After making a thunderous entry into the telecom space Reliance Jio is yet again going to do something similar on its broadband services too.
As per a report in the Economic Times, as Reliance Jio Infocomm is gearing up for the commercial launch of its home broadband services around Diwali, the market can expect a price war –something similar to what Jio’s telecom entry trigerred.
Jio has been expanding its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) business offering with beta trials initiated in five locations, which will be expanded further, ET said.
Reliance will offer the base pack at of JioFiber at dirt-cheap price. The base price of JioFiber “is likely to be 100 GB of data for Rs 500,” the ET report said.
“The company is identifying mega clusters such as high-rise residential apartments and commercial establishments as a part of its phase-II expansion programme to connect 100 locations by December,” ET quoting an anonymous source said.
Earlier, a report in India Today said that Jio will offer complimentary access to JioFibre services for 90 days.
JioFibre broadband services will offer 100 GB free data at 100 Mbps speed and free access to Jio premium applications. Post 100 GB data cap users will continue to get 1 Mbps speed.
However, the offer will come with a rider. Reliance Jio would charge Rs 4,500 (refundable installation charges) from the users. If the consumers do not wish to continue with JioFibre, the amount will be refunded to them.
