Rishi Sunak ribs Aussie PM, ”Didn’t bring my sandpaper’, Albanese shows Ashes 2-1 scoreline

Australian Prime Miner Anthony Albanese and his UK counterpart Rishi Sunak traded barbs in a lighthearted meeting on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Lithuania.
This was after Albanese presented Sunak with a piece of paper that read the current Ashes series scoreline of ‘2 -1’ as they posed for photos.
However, Sunak brought out a photo of English batsmen Mark Woods and Chris Woakes celebrating the win at Leeds.
Trying not to be outdone, Albanese said, “I was going to be really provocative”, and pulled out a photo of Bairstow being run out in the second Test.
“I’m sorry I didn’t bring my sandpaper with me,” Sunak replied promptly, referring to a previous ball-tampering scandal from 2018.

Taking to Twitter, Sunak wrote: “I promised Anthony Albanese I’d give him one of our minerial folders.
“Naturally it came with a little reminder of last weekend … two more to go.”

Earlier, the Australian Prime Miner had defended his country’s Ashes cricket team on Tuesday, after his UK counterpart had said a dismissal during the second Test was against the spirit of the game.
“Same old Aussies – always winning”, Albanese said on Twitter, in a nod to a chant sung English fans after the decision that went “Same old Aussies – always cheating”.
With England on 193/5 and chasing a mammoth target of 371, Australia wicketkeeper Alex Carey had underarmed the ball at the stumps after batsman Jonny Bairstow left his crease at the end of an over during the fifth day of the match.
