Liverpool star Diogo Jota passed away in a tragic car crash on Thursday, according to local reports in Spain.
The 28-year-old Portuguese forward died in a crash near Zamora, in northwestern Spain, according to the Spanish news agency EFE. Spanish news outlet Marca reported that Jota and his 26-year-old brother, Andre Silva, who plays for Portugal’s second-division team Penafiel, were involved in the incident where their car fell off the road, both succumbing to fatal injuries.
The incident happened a mere two weeks after Jota had married his long-term girlfriend, Rute Cardoso, in Porto.

Jota, who joined the Reds from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer of 2020, made 182 appearances for the club. Jota scored 65 goals and provided 26 asss for Liverpool, contributing to two Premier League titles.
Jota made 49 appearances for Portugal since his debut in 2019 and was part of their UEFA Nations League final triumph over Spain in Munich earlier this month.
