‘Rohit Sharma as reliable as a Swiss watch, when it comes to catching,’ says India’s fielding coach T Dilip | Cricket News

Among the big highlights from India’s surreal win against Bangladesh in the second Test were two one-handed catches on Day 4 that turned the tide in India’s favor. Both skipper Rohit Sharma and Mohammed Siraj bagged half chances to put India in the driving seat and a fast drive win in a rain curtailed Test.
India’s fielding coach T Dilip has now showered praise on the team’s fielding in a recent video uploaded the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) capturing Dilip’s post-match speech as he delivered the customary best fielder’s medal.
Applauding the Indian skipper, Dilip quipped, “When it comes to catching, I think he’s as reliable as Swiss watch.”
It was in the 49th over of Bangladesh’s first innings on Day 4 that Litton Das fiercely struck a shot through the covers but was nabbed a leaping Rohit Sharma, who extended his right hand just in time to hold onto the ball.
“The timing had to be good because otherwise, if you don’t time the jump well, it is very easy to miss on. I would say I was lucky enough to hold on to it. I put the jump at the right time and put my hand to the right place at the right time,” Rohit would explain afterwards.
Rohit’s catch was swiftly followed Siraj, tracking back from mid-off to dive backwards and claim Shakib Al Hasan – one handed. The Indian pacer was eventually awarded with the customary fielder’s medal – a tradition the Indian team has imbibed since last year – alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal.
“I thought two people deserved this medal and someone who had every game passed on showed a lot of intent. Turning every moment to an opportunity is what makes a difference,” Dilip said.

India finished the two-match series against Bangladesh with a 2-0 sweep, extending their unbeaten run in a home Test series.
