After a painful final defeat to Australia in the 2023 ODI World Cup final at home, Rohit scripted two ICC titles for the country since June 2024 in what has been an eventful semester across formats for the Mumbaikar. The 37-year-old led India’s charge at the T20 World Cup 2024 in the Americas, emerging as the top-scorer of the side as they clinched their first title in 17 years in the format. Despite an epochal home Test series defeat to New Zealand and a horror Border-Gavaskar Trophy tour to Australia in late 2024 culminating with questions over his playing career, Rohit marshalled India to the Champions Trophy title in Dubai earlier this month. The skipper’s turbo-charged 76 in the final aganst New Zealand proved to be a major difference in the summit clash and was fittingly adjudged the Player of the Final.
While Rohit made a massive leap on the IE Power L, teammate Kohli slid 34 points down to No. 72. However, the 36-year-old has not been short of milestones on the pitch. Kohli was integral to India’s Champions Trophy triumph, scoring his record-extending 51st ton against Pakan and setting up the semi-final win over Australia with a stroke-filled 84.
Meanwhile, Bumrah made his entry into the l after stellar campaigns for India at the T20 World Cup and the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Bumrah also filled in as captain in Rohit’s absence for two Tests and almost single-handedly led the Indian bowling attack Down Under.
