RSS takes a potshot at Rahul for ‘irrelevant’ comments

BHOPAL; The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Wednesday sought to take on Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for his comments on Sangh Parivar’s alleged discrimination against women, describing the comment as irrelevant and inappropriate.
“Rahul Gandhi’s comments on the RSS are irrelevant. He is trying to put women players in men’s hockey,” said RSS publicity in-charge Manmohan Vaidya. “Women do not play in men’s hockey. For women, there are organisations like Durga Vahini,” said Vaidya on Wednesday on the eve of three-day national executive.
He said the Congress had always targeted the Sangh Parivar with mala-fide intentions, whether it was his grandmother Indira Gandhi or other leaders. Despite all odds, the Sangh has grown into a big family and would never stop growing, he said.
“The Congress is in the present condition for targeting RSS for false reasons. The RSS has grown despite all such allegations, but Congress is on the brink of extinction. Rahul Gandhi is repeating the same thing,” said Vaidya replying to the Congress vice-president’s comments.

Ahead of three-day national executive, beginning from October 12, the RSS had invited intellectuals and dignitaries to discuss social and public issues. This is one of the 20 such meetings which the RSS chief held after his Vijayadashmi address across the country.
The sangh parivar would discuss at length issues raised by the national, state and regional heads in nation’s interest.
“The Akhil Bharatiya Karyakarini Mandal (ABKM) meeting, popularly known as the ‘Diwali Baithak’, will review the activities undertaken by the outfit in last six months. Nearly 300 delegates from across the country were expected to take part in the meeting, which will be addressed by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat among others,” said Vaidya.
The Nagpur-based organisation holds its executive meeting twice a year -in March and October and Bhopal is hosting the conclave after a decade. The meeting will also review the sangh’s work in past six months, said a senior RSS functionary.
