Ryan Gosling is Earth’s last hope in Project Hail Mary and he has no idea what he’s doing. Watch trailer | Hollywood News

The subgenre of movies set in outer space has given us some gems: Chropher Nolan’s Interstellar, Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity, Ridley Scott’s Alien. Now another film is going to be added to that impressive l, and that is Phil Lord and Chropher Miller’s Project Hail Mary, starring Ryan Gosling. Sony just released a new trailer for the same, and it remains to be seen whether this film can duke it out with any of the aforementioned classics.
The premise of the movie is based on the life of a scient-teacher who goes the name of Ryland Grace. An expert in molecular biology, Grace is hired a space agency to go into outer space, investigate why the Sun is dying, and then save the Earth and every one of its inhabitants. Begrudgingly, Grace accepts the offer, even though he has no experience as an astronaut. The reasons why he is the only man equipped for the job haven’t been made clear in the trailer, though.

What follows is a dangerous space mission, where Grace not only discovers an alien species but also figures out a way to communicate with them. In the trailer, he looks like a determined and intelligent man when it comes to his own subject but an uncertain and scared individual when it comes to space. Interestingly, even though this is Grace’s first time in the space, Gosling has played an astronaut before. He played the first man on the moon, Neil Armstrong, in the 2018 film First Man, directed Damien Chazelle.
Project Hail Mary is based on a book the same name, which has been written Andy Weir. He is the same author who also penned The Martian, which was later adapted Ridley Scott for a film starring Matt Damon and Jessica Chastain.
Directed Phil Lord and Chropher Miller, the cast of Project Hail Mary includes Ryan Gosling, Milana Vayntrub, Sandra Huller, Ken Leung, Liz Kingsman and James Ortiz.
