Salima Tete to lead Indian women’s hockey team on Australia tour
Midfielder Salima Tete is set to lead the Indian women’s hockey team for upcoming tour of Australia, scheduled to take place from 26th April to 4th May 2025 at the Perth Hockey Stadium. India will take on Australia A in the first two games, followed three matches against the senior Australian team.The tour will be a crucial preparatory assignment ahead of the team’s European leg of the FIH Pro League 2024-25, set to be held in June.
Navneet Kaur has been named deputy to Salima while Savita Punia will share goalkeeping responsibilities with youngster Bichu Devi Kharibam.

Experienced Sushila Chanu will lead the defensive along with Ishika Chaudhary, Jyoti Singh, Sujata Kujur, Jyoti, Ajmina Kujur, Sakshi Rana, and Suman Devi Thoudam.
In the midfield, along with Salima, Vaishnavi Phalke, Nehal, Sharmila Devi, Manisha Chauhan, Sunelita Toppo, Pooja Yadav, Mahima Tete, and Lalremsiami will take the field.
India will field a young forward line with Deepika, Rutuja Dadaso Pisal, Mumtaz Khan, Baljeet Kaur, Deepika Soreng, and Beauty Dungdung.
Additionally, Bansari Solanki (goalkeeper), Anjana Dundung and Lalthantluangi (defenders), Sakshi Shukla and Khaidem Shileima Chanu (midfielders), along with Dipi Monika Toppo and Sonam (forwards), have been named as stand players.Story continues below this ad
