Salman Khan, Prithviraj Sukumaran open up about Sikandar-Empuraan clash: ‘Sunny Deol’s Jaat is coming, too’ | Bollywood News

While it is not uncommon for big-budget films to clash during festivals, it is rare to see actors associated with competing films openly supporting each other’s success. Salman Khan’s Sikandar and Prithviraj Sukumaran and Mohanlal’s L2: Empuraan are set for a box office showdown this Eid, releasing just three days apart. However, both Salman and Prithviraj have lauded each other and clarified that there is no rivalry between them. L2: Empuraan, directed Prithviraj himself, will hit theaters on March 27, while Sikandar is set to arrive on March 30.
Speaking to News18 about the much-discussed clash, Prithviraj stated, “Salman Khan is one of the biggest stars in the country, and there is no competition between the two movies. I hope it becomes a blockbuster. will have no complaints if you watch L2: Empuraan at 11 a.m. and Sikandar at 1 p.m.”
Salman, too, was seen rooting for L2: Empuraan while speaking to the publication. Expressing his admiration for Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, he said, “I love Mohanlal sir as an actor. Prithviraj is directing it, and I know that it’s going to be an excellent film.”

Additionally, Salman extended his best wishes to Sunny Deol’s upcoming film Jaat, which is scheduled to release 13 days after Sikandar, on April 10. Wishing success for all films, he said, “There’s Jaat also coming post Sikandar. I wish all of them do well.”
Salman Khan is known for releasing his films on Eid, but last year, he did not have any release during the festival. His last big-screen appearance was in 2023 with Tiger 3, which failed to meet box office expectations despite co-starring Katrina Kaif in a lead role. In fact, even before Tiger 3, Salman’s films—Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, Antim, and Radhe—struggled at the box office, falling short of expectations.

On the other hand, L2: Empuraan is among the most highly anticipated films of the year. A sequel to the 2019 Malayalam blockbuster Lucifer, the film boasts an ensemble cast, including Mohanlal, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Abhimanyu Singh, Eriq Ebouaney, Jerome Flynn, and Suraj Venjaramoodu in key roles.
