‘Sanju Samson’s dhobi-mode is whipping South Africa dhas dhas dhas….’ – Former Pakan keeper’s breathless gush | Cricket News
Sanju Samson’s back-to-back centuries in the South Africa T20I series have left former Pakan international Ahmad Shahzad bewildered at their belligerence, and he wondered on his YouTube channel if he was “watching agape wide awake or dreaming in his sleep.”
Lauding the power hitting full of intent the Indians, Shahzad gushed, “Sanju hit sixes all over the park.. From the second over itself…after Jansen bowled the first and when SA got in spinners… That shot over mid-off hit on the backfoot off Markram.. it set the tone immediately. It’s not an easy shot but it showed what he will do. Aaj toh dhobi banaa tha Samson phir se… Wo jo unki achhi traditional dhoti hai na, usko marod ke usse dhas dhas dhas peeta South Africa ko,” he said on YouTube. (Samson used that pretty mundu they traditionally wear in dhobi-mode to whip SA dhaas dhaas dhaas).
Shahzad added Sanju deserved a lot of credit after the 50-ball 107 with 10 sixes and seven 4s . “These are not normal scores he’s hitting … two consecutive centuries is not a small thing… He hadn’t gotten opportunities earlier but deserves recognition and respect. In India if a youngster performs, seniors genuinely appreciate… Now Sanju won’t be ignored,” Shahzad said while gleefully stating that Asians were thoroughly smacking Australia, South Africa at home.
“Sanju seemed to be saying ‘Whoever you are, wherever you are from, come fight me. Today it’s me vs you. I’m in mood to work hard and bury your challenge’”, Shahzad further explained. “South Africa has bounce and pace, but the good thing about SA is if you connect a shot it travels far… So Sanju went into dhobi-mode leaving South African bowlers hairaan (gobsmacked). He single-handedly took them to a win… He is enough for India,” Shahzad added.
However, the Pakani said there was further anticipation of when Abhishek Sharma would cut loose and go beserk in Pakan. “The great Yuvraj Singh rates him high, and we are all waiting for Abhishek Sharma to hit ‘badshaah hitting mode’. Somewhere Sharma is trying to play very open and attacking and hit every ball so it’s not coming off. But every batsman needs that one innings to click. There’s a process to get there. Luck is also needed… t he’s young, fit and will fire soon.”
