AICWA calls for Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan boycott after Operation Sindoor: ‘Filmmakers must choose between standing with the nation or supporting those who oppose it’ | Bollywood News
Hours after India conducted Operation Sindoor in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) issued a strongly worded press release, condemning recent statements made Pakani actors Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan. The association called for an industry-wide boycott of Pakani talent and criticized Indian filmmakers and music labels for continuing to collaborate with them.
“Some individuals in our industry continue to show sympathy and support for Pakani artes, ignoring the sentiments of our nation,” AICWA stated, referring to ongoing professional relationships between Indian producers and Pakani actors.
The release specifically targeted Abhi Gulal, an upcoming film featuring Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor, calling it a “shameful example” of misplaced priorities. “Casting Pakani actor Fawad Khan despite the Pulwama attack, where several Indian soldiers were martyred—what message do such filmmakers want to convey?” the statement read. “They even came to India to release this film, showing complete disregard for the nation’s sentiments. This is a disgrace to the sacrifices made our brave soldiers.”

AICWA also took aim at Indian music companies and performers for giving a platform to Pakani singers. “It is unfortunate that several Indian music companies continue to promote Pakani arts, giving them frequent work and exposure. Many Indian singers also share stages with these arts globally, ignoring the sentiments of the nation,” it said.
The association urged all Indian arts and filmmakers to take a stand. “This is not just about art, it is about standing with your country during critical moments. Our nation must come first… Indian arts and filmmakers must decide whether they will stand with their nation or continue to engage with those who openly oppose it.”
The outrage follows controversial social media posts several Pakani celebrities after Operation Sindoor. Fawad Khan posted an Instagram story referring to the Indian military action as a “shameful attack” and wrote “Pakan Zindabad.” Mahira Khan shared a tweet Fatima Bhutto, writing, “Seriously, cowardly! May Allah protect our country, may better sense prevail. Ameen.” Though the official social media accounts of these Pakani actors are banned in India, their Instagram stories instantly went viral, leading to a widespread debate.
