‘We have won 2 Test series in Australia’: Venkatesh Prasad refuses to brand India ‘chokers’ due to barren run in ICC tournaments | Cricket News

India has won all ten games coming into the final of the 2023 World Cup. However, they fumbled at the final hurdle against Australia, breaking the hearts of Indian fans. Since the 2013 Champions Trophy wins in England, India has struggled to add another trophy to the cabinet. Though they have reached the knockout stages of these ICC competitions, they could not go that extra step to add silverware.
During a Q and A interaction on X (formerly known as Twitter), when a netizen asked former Indian cricketer Venkatesh Prasad if he thinks India are the new chokers of the world cricket, he responded saying “Chokers not, we have won 2 Test series against Australia in Australia, the last one in 2020-21 after 36 all out, I consider as one of India’s greatest especially with more than half first choice players missing. But there is certainly something not right about not winning any major tournament in 11 years.”

Earlier in the week, Former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan said that India is one of the most underachieving cricket teams in the world. During the Australia vs Pakan Test, Vaughan asked Mark Waugh if he thinks India is one of the most underachieving sports teams in the world. Waugh did not answer directly, opting to ask Vaughan the same question.
“They haven’t won much in recent times. I think they are (an underachieving side). They don’t win anything. When was the last time they won something? With all the talent they have, all the skill-set (they should have achieved more,” Vaughan said, talking in a Fox Sports panel. “They’ve won in Australia twice (Test series in 2018/19 and 2020/21). Magnificent. But the last few World Cups, (they have) been nowhere, in the last few T20 World Cups, (they have) been nowhere,” he added.
He also said India should have achieved way more than they have, considering the talent at their disposal. “They’re a good team. They have got plenty of talent but with all the talent they have and the resources they have, I just don’t think they win,” he said.
