Second small tear leading to abdominal soreness will keep Mayank Yadav out of remainder IPL, coach Langer confirms | Ipl News

Mayank Yadav, the tearaway pacer who made waves in the Indian Premier League this season consently clocking over 150kph, is unlikely to play a further role in IPL 2024, Lucknow Super Giants head coach Justin Langer has informed. The young Mayank Yadav was so impressive in the early games for the LSG that at one point he was being spoken about as a player India could take a punt on for the T20 World Cup.
But since those early matches, injuries have sidelined him. He recently suffered a lower abdominal tear which will possibly brings down the curtains on his IPL 2024 season.
“We’ll be praying that he can play, hopefully, in the play-offs, but I am a real as well. It’ll probably be difficult for him to get up for the back-end of the tournament,” Langer was quoted as saying PTI.
Mayank Yadav played in four IPL matches this season claiming seven wickets.
But he had a couple of setbacks as well. He first got injured against the Gujarat Titans. needing to leave the field with a side strain after bowling one over. He returned to action against Mumbai Indians after a month-long rehabilitation process. But once again, ended the game prematurely — this time after bowling 3.1 overs.
“He’s (Mayank) had a scan. He’s got a small tear in a similar area to where his last one (injury) was. So, it’s very unfortunate. We saw the impact he had when he came back into the game,” Langer told reporters on the eve of the match.
“There will always be a lot of discussion about fast bowlers, and I know he spoke to (Jasprit) Bumrah after the game and he reassured him that if he’s going to be a fast bowler, a part of his journey as a young fast bowler, he’s going to get injuries. So, in my experience, every young fast bowler, probably until they get to 25 or 26, is going to experience different injuries. It’s the most unfortunate. He’s got huge potential,” he said.
