Shah Rukh Khan shifts into apartment half the size of Mannat as renovation work begins at his iconic bungalow. Watch | Bollywood News

Shah Rukh Khan and his family – wife Gauri Khan, and kids Suhana Khan, Aryan Khan, and AbRam – have shifted to their new temporary home in Mumbai’s Pali Hill as their landmark house, Mannat, undergoes renovation. The paparazzi caught the Jawan actor entering his new home with his manager, Pooja Dadlani, and daughter Suhana Khan. Shah Rukh will live in the new accommodation for approximately two years as extensive renovations are carried on at their iconic bungalow at Bandstand, Mumbai.
Shah Rukh Khan’s temporary apartments to cost Rs 24 lakh per month
Shah Rukh Khan has leased two duplex apartments for Rs 2.9 crore per year, according to Zapkey. This rent amounts to Rs 24 lakh per month for the four floors. Shah Rukh is renting the flats from the Bhagnani family. The duplexes are located in the Puja Casa building. According to a report in Hindustan Times, the building is owned Jackky Bhagnani, his ser Deepshikha Deshmukh, and their father and producer Vashu Bhagnani. The building is named after Vashu’s wife, Pooja Bhagnani.
Though the building is located in Mumbai’s posh locality, it is half the size of Mannat. Reports state that the carpet area of the duplex apartments combined comes to 10,500 sq ft, which is still less than half of Mannat’s 27,000 sq ft.

However, despite its smaller size compared to Mannat, the apartments will also house Shah Rukh Khan and his family’s security and staff members. A source told the website, “It is clearly not as capacious as Mannat; there is enough space to accommodate his security and other staff,” said a source.
Who will be Shah Rukh Khan’s new neighbours?
There is also a question of who will be Shah Rukh Khan’s new neighbours. Since Shah Rukh has leased the apartments from the Bhagnani family, they will also be his neighbours, as the entire building is owned them and they live there as well. Jackky Bhagnani, his wife and actor Rakul Preet Singh, Vashu Bhagnani, and Pooja Bhagnani live in the same building and will be Khan’s next-door neighbours.
Dilip Kumar’s bungalow is located across from Shah Rukh’s temporary house. However, last year, it was reported that the iconic bungalow went under redevelopment and luxurious apartments were constructed in its place. Apart from Dilip Kumar, Sanjay Dutt’s house and the Kapoor family’s iconic bungalow are also located in the same area.
Mannat’s hory
Mannat is a heritage building. It was built in 1914 Nariman K. Dubash. Shah Rukh set his eyes on the bungalow when he shot a scene for his film Yes Boss (1997) around Mannat at Bandstand. He liked the property and decided to purchase it someday. In 2001, he bought Mannat. However, since the structure has a Grade III heritage status, he wasn’t allowed to tamper with it. This is why he built a six-storey building behind Mannat, known as Mannat Annexe. Now, the Khans have decided to add two more storeys to the same building.
What will Mannat look like after renovation?
Since permission is needed to renovate Mannat due to its Grade III heritage status, Gauri Khan, in November 2024, had sought approval from the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) to add two additional floors to the Mannat Annexe, increasing the built-up area 616.02 square meters. After securing the permission, the family decided to move out of the house and begin the renovation work. It is estimated that the renovation will cost around Rs 25 crore.
