Bangladesh’s International Crimes Tribunal (ICT-BD) on Monday convicted ousted Prime Miner Sheikh Hasina of crimes against humanity, Reuters reported. The ruling capped a months-long trial that found she had ordered a deadly crackdown on a student-led protest movement last year. Verdicts for her co-accused, former home miner Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and former police chief Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, are still pending.
Further details on the conviction are awaited.
PTI reported that prosecutors have sought the death penalty for all three.
