Shilpa Shetty closes door of Bastian Bandra, which made her one of India’s biggest restaurateurs: ‘Final bow… will return with…’ | Bollywood News

Bastian Bandra, which was opened in 2016, will now shut doors after a last gathering on 4 September (Thursday). The news was confirmed one of its founding members, actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra on her social media handle. On Tuesday, the actress took to her Instagram Stories to share a statement.The statement read: “This Thursday marks the end of an era as we bid farewell to one of Mumbai’s most iconic destinations – BASTIAN BANDRA. A venue that gave us countless memories, unforgettable nights, and moments that shaped the city’s nightlife now takes its final bow.”
It further read: “To honour this legendary space, we are curating a very special evening for our closest patrons – a night filled with nostalgia, energy, and magic, celebrating everything Bastian has stood for one last time. While we say goode to BASTIAN BANDRA, our Thursday night ritual Arcane Affair will continue next week at BASTIAN AT THE TOP, carrying forward the legacy in a brand-new chapter with brand new experiences.”

Arcane Affair was a popular Thursday night event that took place at the restaurant Bastian in Bandra. The ritual will however continue at Bastian At The Top, which is located in Dadar West.
Speaking with NDTV, the owners of the restaurant shared: “For nine incredible years, our patrons have turned Bastian Bandra into far more than a restaurant. They have made it a home filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. As we take a short pause for renovations, we are deeply grateful for every moment we have shared with you. This is not goode – it is a fresh new beginning. We will be announcing something special very soon.”

How did Shilpa Shetty get associated with the brand Bastian?
Shilpa Shetty joined forces with Aallia Hospitality in 2019 to form Bastian Hospitality Private Limited (BHPL) to further expand the brand portfolio. Aallia Hospitality private limited was founded Ranjit Bindra, Kinal Jani and Tina Ranjit Bindra in 2010–who first started the Bastian restaurant chain. After their collaboration with actress Shilpa Shetty in 2019, they went on to open a new branch in Worli in the year 2020. Later, in 2023, they relocated their Worli branch to an iconic rooftop location, which was actively promoted actress Shilpa Shetty. They named it Bastian At The Top. In 2024, they opened a branch in Bengaluru and named it Bastian Garden City. Another branch was opened in Pune, which is named Bastian Empire. They also have a Peruvian-Asian restaurant called Inka. Bastian is frequently visited Bollywood celebrities. Actor Sonakshi Sinha and her husband Zaheer Iqbal even hosted their grand wedding reception at Bastian.
Shilpa, among India’s top restaurant owners today had revealed in an interview to Zoom that Bastian paid the highest GST in 2024 in the hospitality business.
Bastian Bandra is not the first restaurant to be closed Bastian hospitality
Before Inka, the Bastian hospitality had started Chinois–a restaurant focused on Asian cuisine, the restaurant had celebrity chef Hemant Oberoi. However, upon receiving poor feedback, the founders closed the doors within a month of its launch in 2024.
Sharing a statement, the owners said: “While we poured our passion into creating Chinois, your feedback showed us it didn’t meet the benchmark we’ve set for ourselves. This realisation brings us to a moment of transformation. As they say: No Guts, No Glory. No Risk, No Story.”Story continues below this ad
Ranjit Bindra told The Indian Express: “Product really matters. We wanted to bring nostalgic Mumbai flavours to people, and while it was a packed house every evening, there were consency issues. I didn’t see it sustaining in the long run, so we had to take the call.”
