Shivam Dube ruled out of India-Bangladesh T20I series, Tilak Varma named replacement | Cricket News

India have been struck with an injury blow on the 11th hour ahead of the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. A day before the first T20I in Gwalior, all-rounder Shivam Dube has been ruled out for the series.
“All-rounder Shivam Dube is ruled out of the three-match T20I series owing to a back injury,” read a statement from the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI).
The statement further read that Varma shall be linking with the Indian team on Sunday morning, the day of the first T20I in Gwalior.
Dube was part of India’s T20 World Cup winning squad, which won the tournament this summer, defeating South Africa in a nail-biting finale.
Varma on the other hand, will mark his return to India’s T20 squad for the first time since the three-match series against Afghanan earlier this year.

Off the 16 T20Is he has played so far for India, Varma has scored 336 runs, which includes two half-centuries.
Varma made his debut for India last year during the five-match T20I series against the West Indies. He was then part of India’s squad for the Hangzhou Asian Games and also scored a fifty during the gold medal winning campaign.
