Shivraj’s son named in Panama Papers, claims Rahul Gandhi; says got confused after CM threatens to file criminal suit
Hours after Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Chouhan threatened to file a criminal defamation suit against Rahul Gandhi for dragging his son’s name in the Panama papers scandal, the Congress president Tuesday clarified he got confused as there is rampant corruption in the BJP. “BJP mein itna bhrashtachaar hai ki main kal confuse ho gaya tha. Madhya Pradesh ke CM ne Panama nahi kiya unhone to e-tendering aur vyapam scam kiye hain (There is so much corruption in BJP that I got confused. The Madhya Pradesh CM has not done Panama but he has done e-tendering and Vyapam scams.
While addressing a rally in Jhabua Monday, the Congress president said, “Name of the son of CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan surfaced in the Panama papers, but no action was taken. Even a country like Pakistan punished its former PM when he was named in the Panama papers.”
In a series of tweets Monday night, Chouhan said he will file a criminal defamation suit against Gandhi for linking him and his family members with several scams, including Vyapam and Panama Papers.
Asserting that the law will take its own course, Chouhan tweeted: “Mr @RahulGandhi, you have been making patently false allegations of Vyapam to Panama Papers against me and my family. Tomorrow, I am filing a criminal defamation suit for maximum damages against you for frivolous and malafide statements. Let law take its own course now.”
Chouhan further said the Congress has always looked down at BJP workers and has even called Prime Minister Narendra Modi ‘Maut ka Saudagar’, ‘neech’ and ‘Bicchu’. The party called me ‘nalayak’, ‘madari’ etc. “Staying away from making the government is getting tougher for him and it is affecting him mentally.”
The Chief Minister further said: “For the past many years, Congress has been accusing me and my family. We respect everybody and maintain our dignity but, today Rahul Gandhi crossed his limits when he said my son Yuva Kartikey’s name has come in Panama papers. We are going to file a defamation suit against him tomorrow.”
In July, Congress had claimed to possess evidence that establishes that the name “Abhishek Singh”, which found mention in ICIJ’s offshore leaks investigation of April 2013 as having an offshore account in the British Virgin Islands, is that of Abhishek Singh, BJP Lok Sabha MP from Rajnandgaon in Chhattisgarh and son of three-time Chief Minister Raman Singh. However, Abhishek had refuted the allegations.
