‘Shot selection is not the greatest’: Ravi Shastri pinpoints Rohit Sharma’s batting loopholes
Former Indian cricket team coach Ravi Shastri has shared a piece of advice for the Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma, who has been struggling to make runs in the ongoing IPL season. Rohit aka Hitman is passing through his worst IPL season as he hasn’t scored a single half century this season. The star Indian batter also has a below-par-average of 17.36 in 11 games this season, scoring only 191 runs so far.
Sharing his views on Rohit’s dreadful run in the IPL season 2023, Shastri said that Rohit’s shot selections is not the greatest. “I think give yourself a little bit more time. His shot selection is not the greatest. He mentioned he has a different role to play. But give yourself that little bit more time, his great strength is his ability to play cricketing shots and he has more time than a lot of players in the world when it comes to playing the quicks,” Shastri told Star Sports.
Due to the out-of-form skipper, Mumbai Indians are also not getting an action pact opening which is really concerning for the whole team. Despite making a losing streak in the initial matches of IPL 2023, Mumbai Indians are now among the top four teams in the IPL points table.
Mumbai Indians have won six games out of 11 played the team this season.
On Tuesday, Suryakumar Yadav scored 83 runs off 35 balls as MI beat RCCB six wickets to enter the top four spots. Yadav’s 83 was his IPL best and included seven fours and six sixes as Mumbai chased down Bangalore’s 199-6 with ease. It finished with 200-4 and entered the top four for the first time this season. Mumbai chased 200-plus for the third time this year, the most in any one IPL season, and is now third with 12 points in 11 games, leapfrogging Lucknow Super Giants and Rajasthan Royals.
