‘Singer losing vocals but expecting to put a concert on’: Nathan Lyon on Moeen Ali’s injury

Moeen Ali, the England all-rounder, has been hit an injury concern in the ongoing Ashes Test against Australia.
Ali had a bler on his index finger as the Englishman struggled to bowl for the hosts in his comeback Test. He was also fined 25 per cent of his match fee for illegal use of a drying agent.
The injury is a big blow to England, especially with the first Test delicately poised going into the final day and Ali being one of their most important players with his off-spin.
His absence will be felt most keenly in the spin department. England have a number of good seamers, but they are relatively short on spin options.
Sympathizing with the England all-rounder, Australia off-spinner Nathan Lyon said, “It’s massive to be honest with you, I actually sitting here have a lot of sympathy for Moeen. Not coming off any red-ball cricket for two years and thrown into bowling a lot of overs.”
“The best way I can probably sum it up, and it will probably sound weird, is a singer losing their vocals but expecting to go out and put a concert on.
It is extremely tough to grip the ball as finger spinners, especially as offies, we put our fingers on the seam and try to spin up the back of the ball. That’s where we get spin, drop and drift. So a lot of sympathy for him, I’ve been there before, it is quite painful,” Lyon added in his chat with the media.
