Six killed in Ayodhya mishap; CM announces compensation
Six people were killed and two critically injured when a UP State Road Transport Corporation bus was hit by a container truck from behind in the Rudauli Kotwali police area in Ayodhya on Tuesday.
Circle Officer Dharmendra Kumar Yadav said that a DCM rammed into two UPSRTC buses en route to Gorakhpur from Kanpur in an attempt to overtake. Subsequently, the bus driver stopped the vehicle and was inspecting the damage. The passengers were alighting from the bus when a speeding container truck headed to Faizabad rammed into the bus from behind. The people present on the road were crushed under the bus and were dragged till some distance, resulting in the on the spot death of two persons while four others succumbed to injuries later.
Four among the deceased were identified as Abhishek Kumar Shukla (21), Om Prakash Shukla (48), Dhananjay Vishwakarma (28), Vinod Kumar (40). Two others are yet to be identified.
Both the injured people WERE referred to the KGMU Trauma Centre.
Among the deceased, five people hailed from the Basti district while one was from Deoria.
Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief at the death of the six people in the accident. Praying for the peace of the departed souls, he expressed his condolences to the bereaved families. He directed officials that the kin of the deceased be provided a financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each. The chief minister also directed the officials to make proper arrangements for the treatment of the injured in the mishap.
