Snowflake, Nasscom join hands to enable learners in India with data and AI skills | Technology News

AI data and cloud company Snowflake has collaborated with FutureSkills Prime, a digital skilling initiative Nasscom and the Minry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). The initiative aims to transform India into a digital talent nation.
With this, Snowflake and Nasscom aim to enrol over 100,000 professional and student learners in Snowflake’s free, on-demand entry-level data and AI skills courses in the next two years. The initiative is backed Snowflake’s global programme – One Million Minds + One Platform – which is aimed towards global AI upskilling.
Talking about the partnership with Nasscom, Cassie Wallgren, VP of global educational services, Snowflake said, “Together, we are bridging today’s skills gap and building a future-ready workforce equipped to lead in a data-driven world. Through accessible learning pathways, industry-recognised certifications, and hands-on experience, this collaboration empowers individuals to unlock new career opportunities. It will shape the next generation of innovators, driving advancements in AI, technology, and beyond.”

According to Nasscom’s State of Data Science and AI Skills in India report, India ranks first when it comes to AI skills penetration and holds the first and fifth ranks globally in AI talent concentration. But the gap between demand and supply is around 51 per cent, and 2026, the demand for professionals in India is expected to exceed one million.
“The courses offered them (Snowflake) will equip students & professionals with the knowledge and expertise to harness the power of AI & Data Cloud, accelerating business growth and technological advancements across industries. These training programmes are designed to upskill professionals in cloud data management, AI-driven analytics, and modern data architecture, fostering a stronger, more data-literate workforce in India,” said Dr Abhilasha Gaur, CEO of IT & ITeS SSC Nasscom.
With companies across the industry relying on data to drive AI, innovation, and business growth, the demand for skilled professionals in data engineering, data science, and AI/ML is likely to increase. There will be a growing demand for data analysts, data architects, and data adminrators.
The training programmes Snowflake come with structured learning paths for professionals in various stages of their careers. The entry-level courses offer flexible, self-paced learning through on-demand modules, hands-on labs, and foundational training in data management, cloud technologies, SQL, AI/ML, and data science.Story continues below this ad
