‘Sometimes best thing we can do is to take step back’: Lakshya Sen says he’s taking a ‘break’

Having endured a tough opening round defeat against Lee Cheuk Yiu at the Swiss Open Super 300 tournament and sliding down to the World No 25 spot in the BWF rankings, men’s singles shuttler Lakshya Sen indicated that he was ‘taking a step back’ in an Instagram post.
“I wanted to take a moment to talk about the importance of taking a break, I’ve come to realize that sometimes, the best thing we can do for ourselves is to take a step back and recharge. So, I took a little break from the normal to focus on myself and bounce back from these setbacks,” the 21-year-old said in the post.
Sen did not indicate how long he would be taking a break for. He didn’t compete at the Madrid Spain Masters, which ended on Sunday. The next tournament on the BWF calendar is the Orleans Masters, a Super 300 tournament in France.

He added that he was spending time with loved ones, pursuing hobbies and taking care of his “mental and physical health”.
“I’ve realised that it’s not a sign of weakness, but rather a sign of strength and self-awareness. Take care of yourselves, and I’ll see you all soon,” he added.
Sen has not had the best start to the 2023 season. At the prestigious All England Championships, his run was ended Anders Antonsen in the second round. He also had a first round exit at the German Open at the start of March.
