Spanish FA, La Liga reject Barcelona’s request to reger Dani Olmo and Pau Victor | Football News
The Spanish football federation (RFEF) and La Liga on Saturday said they rejected a request from Barcelona to reger Dani Olmo and Pau Victor both for the second half of the season. The two bodies added that a cancelled licence could not be revived for a player the same club in the same season.
The two players will be unable to play for the club for the second half of the season, a fresh blow to Barcelona who were attempting to extend their regrations.
“The Monitoring Committee agrees not to grant the prior approval or the definitive licence requested FC Barcelona for the players Daniel Olmo Carvajal and Pau Victor Delgado,” the RFEF said in a statement.

Olmo has been crucial to Barcelona’s title charge this season, scoring 6 goals for the Catalan club in all competitions after moving to Spain from German club RB Leipzig last year. He was also an integral part of the Spanish squad which won Euro 2024 in Germany last year.
23-year-old forward Victor, meanwhile, has not started a match for Barcelona but have come on as a substitute on various occasions.
Both players were only regered the club for the first half of the season due to LaLiga wage cap considerations.
Two courts had previously rejected the club’s requests. LaLiga had previously welcomed the legal rulings, saying additional spending is allowed so long-term injuries do not weaken a team but the rule should not be exploited to allow the regration of players whose salaries exceed the limit.
Spanish media said Barcelona plan to file a complaint to the Spanish government in a last-ditch attempt to allow the pair to play. There was no immediate comment from Barcelona.
Barcelona, under coach Hansi Flick are currently 3rd in the league, 5 points off leader Real Madrid.
