KN Hospital incident criminal offence: CM

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the incident which took place at Kamala Nehru Hospital is a case of criminal negligence. The guilty will be removed, action will be taken on them, no guilty will be spared.

Additional Chief Secretary Health and Medical Education Mohammad Suleman has been entrusted with the responsibility of probing the incident. Decision has been taken to remove Dr Jitendra Shukla, Dean of Gandhi Medical College, Dr Lokendra Dave, Superintendent of Hamidia Hospital and Dr KK, Dubey, Director of Kamala Nehru Hospital from their posts and suspend Deputy Engineer of CPA Electricity Wing Awadhesh Bhadoriya. Chouhan said all the facts related to the incident should be brought before the public. The Government has nothing to hide in this case.

The Chief Minister was addressing a meeting regarding the tragic incident at Bhopal’s Kamala Nehru Hospital with ministers and senior officers at Mantralaya.

Home Minister Dr Narottam Mishra, Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Prabhuram Choudhary, Medical Education Minister Vishwas Sarang, Bhopal in-charge Minister Shri Bhupendra Singh, Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, Director General of Police Vivek Johri Additional Chief Secretary Health Mohammad Suleman, Additional Chief Secretary Home Dr Rajesh Rajoura, Commissioner Bhopal Gulshan Bamra, and Commissioner Public Relations Dr Sudam Khade and other officers were present.

Chief Minister Chouhan said critically ill children are kept in SNCU. Sick New Born Care Unit (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). A campaign will be launched in the state to avoid such incidents in future.

The Chief Minister directed that it should be made mandatory for the Government and private hospitals to conduct fire and electric safety audit within the time limit.

All district collectors will review the fire and electric safety and other rescue and security arrangements of all Government and private hospitals and medical colleges in their districts in the next 10 days.
