‘Sridevi and Mithun Chakraborty would fight all night,’ reveals Karan Razdan: ‘He is a very emotional man’ | Bollywood News

While the world of cinema has often witnessed romantic relationships that withered faster than they blossomed, the industry has also stood as a mute spectator to bonds that exed solely behind closed curtains, away from the public eye. Among the latter category are also relationships that exed as open secrets, with neither of the two involved openly admitting to the rumours, yet the truth being apparent to everyone else. Bollywood icons Sridevi and Mithun Chakraborty belong there. Although they never spoke about their rumoured romance, speculations about the same were rife in the 1980s, with some even claiming they had secretly tied the knot — despite Mithun already being married to actor Yogeeta Bali. The latter part of the gossip suggests that they eventually parted ways because Mithun was not ready to end his marriage with Yogeeta.
Recently, actor-director Karan Razdan took a trip down memory lane and discussed the relationship between Sridevi and Mithun Chakraborty. Mentioning that they used to fight a lot, he also emphasised that Mithun was a very emotional person. “They used to fight all night. She is no more in this world; so, I cannot speak about her much,” he shared during a chat with Siddharth Kannan.

When asked how he managed to attend shoots the next day after fighting all night, Karan — who worked with Mithun as an actor in films such as Disco Dancer and Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki — responded: “The kind of energy Mithun da has, no one else does. He can stay up all night, rehearsing his dance steps for the next day or fighting over the phone, and still be on time the next morning. He is a very emotional man. He wore his heart on his sleeve. He was so pure-hearted.”
One of the biggest and most acclaimed actors Bollywood has ever seen, Sridevi, after her rumoured breakup with Mithun, eventually married producer Boney Kapoor. They had two daughters together: actors Jahnvi and Khushi Kapoor. Sridevi tragically passed away in February 2018 due to an accidental drowning at a hotel in Dubai.
