Strive for highest rating in cleanliness: CM

We must make efforts to get the highest star rating in the survey. Better implementation of infrastructure development works must be ensured in urban areas. We must make efforts to bring better results in Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and PM Street Vendors Scheme. Chief Minister Chouhan said this while releasing the Rs.931 crore 50 lakh of the 15th Finance Commission’s for the financial year 2021-22 to the urban bodies of the state with a single click from the Mantralaya today. Today, an amount of Rs 432 crore 50 lakh was transferred to million plus cities and Rs 499 crore to non million plus cities of the state.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that most of the cities have done excellent work in revenue collection. This year the civic bodies have got about 35 percent more revenue than last year for which it deserves to be congratulated. Urban bodies and officers will be rewarded for their outstanding performance.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that the Urban Development Department is engaged in efforts to transform the cities. Urban development works are being undertaken at top speed. There are two categories of cities in the state. The first category is of cities with million plus population. Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Gwalior are included in the cities with a population of more than 10 lakhs in the state. The second category includes cities with a population of less than 10 lakhs. The grants given to million plus cities can improve air quality, drinking water, sanitation and solid waste management. Basic grants have been given to non-million cities, which they will be able to use for development works.

Urban Development and Housing Minister Bhupendra Singh said that many achievements were made during his last tenure under the leadership of Chief Minister Chouhan. In the last two years also, many important works have been done in the urban development sector. Madhya Pradesh is leading in many schemes in the country. With the amount being released today, better facilities will be developed for the citizens in the urban bodies of the state.

The cleanliness work of cities has been undertaken very well in Madhya Pradesh, as a result of which Madhya Pradesh is getting various categories of awards. Madhya Pradesh is leading in the country in the works of welfare of street vendors, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and water conservation for which Chief Minister Chouhan deserves to be congratulated. He has taken steps to effectively control mafia in the state.

The encroached land is being made free, which will be reserved for the houses of the poor. Our cities will continue to progress like this under the leadership of Chief Minister Chouhan.

Principal Secretary Urban Development and Administration Manish Singh, Principal Secretary Public Relations Raghavendra Kumar Singh, Commissioner Urban Development and Administration Nikunj Kumar Srivastava were present. All the districts of the state were also connected virtually with the programme.

An amount of Rs 131.50 crore was released to million plus cities for air quality improvement and Rs 301 crore for drinking water, sewerage and sanitation. An amount of Rs 199.60 crore has been released to non-million plus cities for local development works and Rs 299.40 crore for sanitation, sewerage, drinking water and conservation.
