Suniel Shetty praises Jemimah Rodrigues for skipping WBBL to support Smriti Mandhana: ‘No big statements, just quiet solidarity’ | Bollywood News

Actor Suniel Shetty on Friday took to social media to praise Indian cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues’ heartwarming gesture for teammate and friend Smriti Mandhana, amid ongoing turmoil in the latter’s personal life. Smriti’s wedding was postponed after her father fell ill and had to be admitted to hospital. Rumours ignited after after Smriti removed all wedding posts from her Instagram and Palash came back to Mumbai from Sangli where the pre-wedding celebrations were taking place.
On Friday, Suniel took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle and posted a newspaper clipping. The headline of the article read, “Jemimah opts out of WBBL to be Mandhana’s side.” Along with the newspaper cutting, he shared a heartfelt note which read, “Bumped into this article first thing in the morning and my heart felt full. Jemimah leaving the WBBL to be Smriti’s side. No big statements, just quiet solidarity. This is what real teammates do. Simple. Straight. Genuine.”

Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal’s wedding postponed
On November 23, the wedding of cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer-filmmaker Palash Muchhal was postponed indefinitely after Smriti’s father fell ill just hours before the ceremony. The event was called off without a new date being announced. Soon after, news of Palash being hospitalised in Mumbai emerged online. Smriti then deleted all photos and videos from the pre-wedding celebrations on social media. Neither Smriti nor Palash has issued an official statement on the matter.
