Sunil Narine declared fit to play as Chandrant Pandit downplays pitch controversy at Eden Gardens

Kolkata Knight Riders’ Sunil Narine has been declared fit before their next IPL game against Mumbai Indians. KKR’s coach Chandrakant Pandit informed that the all-rounder has recovered from his ill-health which made him sit out at their last match against Rajasthan Royals. “Sunil is 100% fit. He has definitely recovered well and he’s been practising since yesterday (Saturday). Today he is practising as well so he is absolutely fine at the moment,” Pandit informed on eve of their third IPL game at Wankhede Stadium to be played on Monday.
KKR lately has been surrounded pitch controversy where they have been not getting the conditions to their liking at the Eden Gardens, which denies them home advantage.
Pandit was once again asked about it and he ducked it stating that whatever surface has been provided they have to play. He explained, “See, as a coach, as a team management, whatever the surface has been provided to us, we play. The control, of course, that will be under curator. And at this moment, the focus is definitely going to be on the next game tomorrow (Monday) which we are playing. So, at the moment, I am definitely not thinking on what has to be done, what is in whose control. But let us focus on tomorrow’s game which is very crucial for us.”

When asked if the franchise was in charge of everything at the ground, Pandit said, “No. In charge of everything at the ground… I don’t know. That doesn’t mean that they probably have control of preparing wickets. I mean, ultimately, I don’t know what is the system in the different states or different grounds where the control is not the franchisee. Probably, of course, as a team management, as a coach, as a captain, probably we expect something to be provided. So, that’s all,” he added.
Mumbai Indians will be playing its first game at home after regering two defeats in the span of a week. They will look to open their win tally at home whereas KKR will look to upset MI back in their yards.
