Two-time champions West Indies flexed their muscles against Australia in their warm-up matches ahead of the T20 World Cup.
Opted to bat first, West Indies piled up 257 for 4. Nicholas Pooran led the charge for West Indies, smashing a 25-ball 75, which was studded with five fours and eight sixes. Pooran reached his half-century in just 16 balls. Pooran forged a 90-run stand in just 39 balls for the second wicket with Johnson Charles (40 off 31 balls).
West Indies captain Rovman Poweel smacked 25-ball 52 to continue the assault. The final flourish was provided Sherfane Rutherford, who hammered a 47 runs in just 18 balls with the help of four boundaries and as many sixes.
For Australia, Adam Zampa (2/62), Ashton Agar (1/58), and Tim David (1/40) shared the spoils.
Australia fielded a team with just nine players and coaches for sub-fielders again, as they did two days ago against Namibia.
In reply, Australia had a flying start as they reached to 89/3 at the end of the powerplay.
Australia put up a decent show in reply despite missing a host of key players, with Josh Inglis (55), Nathan Ellis (39) and Ashton Agar (28) keeping Australia in the chase but they finished with 222/7 in their final warm-up fixture.
For West Indies, spinner Gudakesh Motie (2/31) and tall pacer Alzarri Joseph (2/44) picking up a pair of wickets each for the hosts.
Rain in the USA
The two warm-up matches in Dallas were washed out without a single ball being bowled.
The hosts USA won the toss against Nepal but not a single ball was bowled. The Canada vs Netherlands tie was also abandoned without a ball bowled.
Rain-affected contests
Namibia narrowly defeated Papua New Guinea three runs (DLS method) following a rain-affected contest in Tarouba.
Papua New Guinea could only muster 109/7 from their 20 overs, but an inspired spell from Assad Vala (2/17) helped keep Namibia in touch and the African nation was sitting precariously at 93/6 in the 17th over when the match was called off at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy.
