Task force submits report to the Chief Minister
The task force constituted to reduce maternal and child mortality in the state handed over its final report to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday. Task force chief Prof. Shamika Ravi handed over a copy of the report to Chouhan. The task force was formed last January by the Madhya Pradesh under the chairmanship of Prof. Shamika Ravi who has been part of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council. The task force has submitted the report on June 30 within the stipulated period.
Chouhan said that the task force has done a good job, but this is not a destination, it’s a halt. The task force will continue to work in future also. He said that we also have to implement this report, so that it can be successful in reducing the mortality rate of mothers and children even more. Chief Minister Chouhan said that expected improvements have been seen in Madhya Pradesh with constant work and monitoring in the area. Combined efforts by the Department of Health and Women and Child Development have been successful in this area. A lot of work has also been done in other areas in the state. Greater focus on reducing maternal and child mortality will give better outcome.
The task force has also done the work of coordinating with the Madhya Pradesh State Policy and Planning Commission. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan congratulated the task force for giving timely report and thanked Prof. Shamika Ravi and other members.
Prof. Shamika Ravi said that this is the beginning of the journey. The development of the road map will also be supported by the members of this team and we will continue the support. Implementation will continue after determining the tasks to be done in the long term and short term. Along with the final report of the task force, she expressed the need for scientific documentation of other data received, which will benefit other states including Madhya Pradesh.
