‘The moves were Joe Bhai’s idea’: Yuzvendra Chahal reveals the choreographer behind his dance with Joe Root
Before making his IPL debut with Rajasthan Royals, star English batter Joe Root marked his presence in the tournament with his groovy dance moves alongside teammate Yuzvendra Chahal.
In a video shared RR on their Instagram, the duo were seen shaking a leg and enjoying themselves during a team event.
Revealing the choreographer behind the iconic dance, Chahal on Wednesday said that the steps were Joe Root’s idea and that the latter taught him the dance the very first day they met.
“The moves were Joe bhai’s (Joe Root). The day he came and the first time I met him, that night he taught me and said that we’ll do this,” he said.
“It’s my favourite song. I len to it at least 6-7 times a day,” he added.

Root was bought the Rajasthan side for his base price of Rs 1 crore during the IPL 2023 mini auction. However, he is yet to play in a game as he hasn’t found a place in the playing XI in any of RR’s matches thus far.
Meanwhile, last night, Mahendra Singh Dhoni gave a glimpse of the good old days of thrilling finishes but unheralded Royals seamer Sandeep Sharma nailed a couple of perfect block-hole deliveries to earn a three-run victory for the visitors over Chennai Super Kings in the close IPL encounter.
Chasing a target of 176, Dhoni (32 off 17 balls) and Ravindra Jadeja (25 off 15 balls), veterans of many such tantalising finishes were on course as 21 was needed off the last over. CSK’s final score was 172 for 6 as Dhoni didn’t end his 200th game for CSK in a manner he would have liked in his spiritual home with 30,000 plus spectators rooting for him.
Punjab seamer Sandeep, who played a couple of games for India eight years back, seemed to lose his nerve as he bowled a couple of wides and then Dhoni whipped him over square leg and mid-wicket for a couple of sixes.
Needing 6 off the last two deliveries, the medium pacer got a wide yorker to Jadeja and then a perfect block-hole ball to Dhoni as it fetched a couple of singles.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) will be next in action when they lock horns with Gujarat Titans (GT) on Sunday (April 16).
