‘The problem for Pakan in this ODI World Cup is that the fast bowling is struggling’: Wasim Akram | Cricket-world-cup News

Babar Azam’s decision to bowl first against New Zealand at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, backfired as the Kiwis posted a commanding 401/6 from 50 overs in their high-stakes World Cup match on Saturday.

Pace spearheads Hasan Ali and Shaheen Afridi were taken apart as the Pakan bowlers did not have enough variations to counter the smooth Chinnaswamy pitch as Ravindra (108 off 94 balls) and Williamson (95 off 79 balls) ran them ragged.
New Zealand made 114 runs in the last ten overs to give Pakan a steep mountain to scale down
This led to scathing criticism from former Pakitan legend Wasim Akram.
“They bowled badly. Shaheen went for 90 in his ten, and Hasan Ali went for 82 in his ten overs. The problem for Pakan in this WC is that our fast bowling is struggling.
“Pakan is also going with part-time spinners. If we are playing four fast bowlers, then who will take care of over-rate? Pakan paid the penalty in the match as in the last three overs, they had to get one fielder inside the circle.”Most Read

Afridi, who recently rose to No. 1 in the ODI rankings, recorded Pakan’s worst-ever bowling figures of 0-90 in a World Cup. Rauf was not far behind, ending up with 1-85. Hasan Ali (1-82), who came into the side in place of leg-spinner Usama Mir, also went for plenty.
However, Fakhar Zaman bludgeoned a 63-ball century to help Pakan handed New Zealand its fourth successive loss.
Pakan moved level on eight points with New Zealand, which occupies fourth place in the standings virtue of a better net run-rate than Pakan and Afghanan.
